About The Caring Years
The Caring Years exists for one specific moment: the one where you realize your parent needs more help than a phone call once a week.
Maybe it was a fall. Maybe it was a missed pill, a confusing bill, or just a feeling that things are changing faster than anyone in the family wants to admit. Whatever brought you here, you’re not alone — an estimated 63 million people in the U.S. are currently providing unpaid care for a family member, most often an aging parent (AARP, 2025).
This site is built around one idea: caregiving advice should be practical, specific, and honest about how hard this actually is. You won’t find vague wellness talk here. You’ll find home safety checklists, real scripts for difficult conversations, and honest information about caregiver burnout — the kind of thing you wish someone had handed you on day one.
A note on what this site is not: The Caring Years does not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations. It’s a resource for the practical and emotional side of caregiving. Always talk to your parent’s doctor about medical decisions.
